Product Description
Coloplast 39639 Biatain® Silicone Ag (Coloplast 39639)
Description
Usage
Biatain® Silicone Ag can be used for a wide range of exuding wounds with delayed healing due to bacteria, or where there is a risk for infection, including leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, second-degree burns, donor sites, postoperative wounds and skin abrasions. Can be used with compression therapy.
Biatain® Silicone Ag is a soft and conformable foam dressing with a patented silver complex and a soft silicone adhesive border. Can be used on infected wounds or wounds with a risk of infection.
Unique 3D foam structure for superior absorption
The unique foam structure conforms closely to the wound bed for superior absorption and retention of exudate. Conformability to wound bed minimizes the risk of bacteria growth in “dead space” and creates the optimal condition for delivery of silver ions.
Superior exudate management
The fluid handling properties of Biatain® Silicone Ag ensures that the exudate is effectively locked away in the foam, still leaving the wound moist for optimal healing conditions, even under compression.
Patented silver complex with broad antimicrobial profile
Optimal concentration of silver ensures faster elimination of bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and ß-haemolytic Streptococcus. The patented silver complex provides a sustained release of silver during the entire wear time (up to 7 days)
Non-touch opening
Biatain® Silicone Ag has a 3-piece non-touch opening for aseptic, safe and easy application, reducing dressing waste.
Mode of action
In the presence of exudate, silver is continuously released into the wound bed for up to 7 days.
Product composition
Biatain® Silicone Ag is a soft and conformable polyurethane foam dressing that contains a patented ionic silver complex. The dressing has a semi-permeable, water and bacteria-proof top film and a soft silicone adhesive border.
